Both your environment and the natural ageing process change the appearance of your face over time. So, what happens to our lips?
Where did the volume go?
Our facial bone structure changes over time. The bone that supports your lips (for those curious, the technical word is your maxillae) gets reabsorbed into the body, without its support, your upper lip may appear thinner and flatter.
Appearance of lines and wrinkles
Our skin loses Hyaluronic Acid (HA) over time, which means that we lose some of that youthful elasticity. We smile a lot, and the repetition of smiling starts to show with marionette lines; the little lines on the sides of your lips.
How can Juvéderm® help?
Getting lips, you’ll love is achievable. Juvéderm® facial fillers can not only smooth wrinkles around the mouth, they can also make them fuller, more symmetrical, and more noticeable. Filling your marionette lines gives a smoother look. Filling bar lines around your mouth gives a younger appearance. By adding volume in the right areas, Juvéderm® can deliver the enhancement you want.
Will it hurt?
Dermal Fillers can be slightly uncomfortable depending on the depth on injection needed. However, during the preparation of your skin an anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area to aid your comfort, plus most of the Dermal Fillers we use have local anaesthetic mixed in with them too to further minimize any discomfort.
Which areas can be treated?
Dermal fillers can be used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips and shape facial contours, such as cheeks and chin and jawline, and revitalise the skin. The most commonly treated areas are: Nose to mouth lines (the nasolabial folds), down-turned lips, Lips (adding volume and shape) and cheeks.
How do they work?
By introducing a HA under the skin, volume which has been lost through ageing will re-appear creating a smoother, youthful appearance. The HA will attract water to it further bringing hydration to the area leading to fresh, revitalized skin.
Who can’t have Dermal Filler Injections?
Anyone with a previous allergic reaction to a Dermal Filler or someone with an allergy to Lidocaine (often added to fillers for the comfort of client). Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers are also contraindicated to treatment
